This could be the most important journal entry I’ve made to date… and it’s the main reason I began documenting this transformation process… 100% complete transparency.
Here I am… in my most vulnerable state… stripped down to my underwear… and I could care less about the critics, because I am more than comfortable in my own skin…

Most of the time you see inspiring photos of people striking perfect poses under perfect lighting. I’ve been guilty of doing this myself… even taking multiple photos and selecting the best one to post online.
There’s nothing wrong with this. We all want to look our best… and when you’re sharing photos of yourself, whether it’s on Facebook, Instagram, Pintrest, in a family photo album, or on your wall… it’s natural to strike a pose that shows off your best features… and to only share the pictures you are comfortable with… and proud of.
The only problem with it is that it doesn’t reveal the entire picture. You’re only seeing and hearing people at their best, which can be misleading to others.
…It can also be discouraging to others. If all they are seeing is near perfection… because you only share your super healthy meals, talk about how much you’re at the gym, and share only your best photos…
…some people may think, “There’s no way I could keep that up… screw it! I’d rather live a little.”
On the other extreme end of the spectrum you see some people only posting epic cheat meals and brag about how many Pop Tarts they eat.
…Again, this can be misleading and discouraging to some people who may wonder why they’re not getting ripped abs even though they are eating just like the Pop Tart King.
This is why I began recording these behind the scenes videos. To share a much broader view of the Physique Artist Lifestyle. To share all my healthy meals and not so healthy meals… to share my best pictures and my not so flattering photos… to show you what I look like when I’m not all pumped up and flexing under ideal lighting conditions.
But most of all… I REALLY want to show you that this is an incredibly rewarding, joyful, and maintainable lifestyle.
If you’ve been following my videos this week, you would have seen my refeed day, which included 20 chicken wings, 2 slices of pizza, 2 beers, and pasta. Now if you only saw that video you may have thought to yourself, “This guy is a genetic freak who can eat anything he wants.”
…and that couldn’t be further from the truth. I gain fat with the best of them… and quite easily.
…When you look at the rest of the BIG picture you would see that I spent the previous 10 days in a moderate caloric deficit… and was quite comfortable with that. When my body was sending signals that it was time to bump up my calories I listened…. then went right back to my moderate deficit.
One thing I don’t want you to do is compare yourself to me. We’re all different… and we should be proud of that. Create your own journey and carve your own path… sculpt your own personal masterpiece in the image that you desire.
Important Messages From The Video
Message #1: All is not what it seems.
In the post workout behind the scenes footage you see what my physique looks like when I’m relaxed. The fat is clearly visible.
…Yet, when I strike the perfect pose, and do some tricks to stretch my skin… the fat seems to disappear… and I look way more ripped.
If I only shared photos of that perfect pose it would be misleading and not an accurate representation of how I look when I’m relaxed.
Message #2: It’s OK to train for Aesthetics. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to look good.
Some people spend a shit load of money covering up their body with expensive cloths, jewelery, and make-up to make themselves look good…
Why is this behavior acceptable… but when someone wants to look great naked it suddenly becomes vain.
As I say… some call it vanity… we call it ART!
Message #3: Critics are everywhere… stay true to yourself.
It’s not easy being a lightweight fitness pro under the spot light…
When I gain a bit of fat while trying to build muscle, I get criticized for not being ripped enough… Some guys will go so far to say, “Dude you’re not in a muscle building phase, you’re in a fat building phase.”
When I begin to approach a buck fifty as I burn off the bit of fat I gained during a muscle building phase I get criticized by guys asking me, “Do you even lift?”
The crazy thing is… I believe I represent many guys out there. Yet, most of the bodybuilding advice is being dished out by guys who are absolute BEASTS, weighing well over 200 pounds.
The ‘average’ (yuck, I hate to use the word average) Joe, isn’t represented in the magazines. Our role models aren’t in the spotlight. They don’t get featured on the covers of fitness magazines or sponsored by supplement companies.
It’s my goal to change that. To give a ‘VOICE’ to the lightweight bodybuilder…To provide a platform for the ‘Little-Big Guy’… To spark discussions that are relevant to the struggles, which are unique to guys our size.
This is why I ignore the nasty critics and keyboard cowboys, while staying true to myself, my passion, and my mission.
I’m never going to be a big huge guy… and I’m cool with that… because I am making the absolute most out of the gifts I’ve been granted, striving for my true potential, and having the time of my life.
…and I want to thank you for sharing in this journey with me. Your feedback and your personal stories of struggle and victory are what makes this all worth while.
We’re in this together… so let’s live it up!
