In today’s behind the scenes footage you’ll see a unique twist on one of my favorite exercises for the lateral aspect of the delts and what I do to hit the traps at the end… plus our calves workout… and our abs workout.
My legs and glutes are really feeling yesterdays workout, so I took some extra time with self massage using the Rumble Roller to help relieve my tight muscles and recover faster.
Plus, you’ll see why I rarely bring my kids grocery shopping 😉

I LOVE shoulder focused workouts. Your delts are among the most important muscles for sculpting a physique with great proportion, symmetry, and details.
This is the beauty of training with a body part split routine. You can add more volume to your workout with a variety of exercise to carve out some insane definition.
Speaking of definition… It was great to see greater details in my shoulders and arms in today’s behind the scenes workout footage. Plus, it was wicked cool to see how the fullness and details of my workout partner Rick’s physique.
We finished off our workout by hitting our abs using the TRX. This is a great way to finish off the shoulders as well. They are constantly working to stabilize your body.
Why I Never Go Grocery Shopping With My Kids…
After picking up Shayne from practice yesterday, I brought him along to pick up some basmati rice for dinner. This was our conversation on our way to the store…
Shayne: What’s for dinner tonight?
Me: Drumsticks
Shayne: You mean the ice cream cones… really?
Me: No… chicken drumsticks silly… but those ice cream drumsticks sound great!
So, being the great dad that I am… we walked through the ice cream aisle to pick up this delicious treat.
Low and behold… they were on sale! So we picked up two boxes 😉
If you’ve been following my aesthetic muscle journal for the past 24 days, you’ll have noticed that I have been enjoying some treats, such as the Drumstick above, quite often… almost daily actually… and I’m on a ‘diet’… getting shredded for beach season.
Some people will look at this and say, “Well you must have a high metabolism if you can eat foods like that and still burn fat.”
Some people will look at this and think of it as a free ticket to eat a bunch of junk food during their cutting phase.
Both these scenarios would be missing the mark.
My metabolism is normal… average… pretty damn spot on with what the BMR calculators predict for a guy my height, weight, and activity level.
I’m consuming approximately 2000 calories most days… which is approximately a 500 calorie deficit for me.
Sure, a small built female may envy this caloric intake, but some larger males have been laughing at me because I’m only consuming 2000 calories… so metabolism (high or low) can be a matter of perspective.
Bottom line… I gain fat just as easily as the best of them.
The other point about a junk food free-for-all… would be a big mistake… and narrow minded. I have noticed that while some people on Facebook only post their super healthy meals, others only share their epic cheat meals and large quantities of Pop-Tarts.
If you look at my entire day/week of eating… you’ll notice that approximately 90-95% of the foods I eat would be considered, “whole”, “natural”, and “healthy”… and only 5% would be considered, “junk food”, “treat meals”, “reward meals”, “free meals”.
…although some of the food nazi’s would criticize every morsel that goes into my mouth every day. So “healthy” is also a matter of perspective I guess.
This is a BIG reason why I am sharing all of my meals and being completely transparent with my physique journey. It’s important for me to share the BIG picture… the good and the bad… to put it all in perspective.
It’s a LIFESTYLE!
Some may refer to this as Flexible Dieting. Some would say, it’s just plain common sense… it’s moderation for goodness sake!
This is the way my wife has been eating all of her life… and she’s maintained six pack abs… even after having a c-section with our second born… Noelle.
I used to be more rigid… it worked VERY well for me. But thanks to that experience of tracking what I eat… I can now be much more flexible… and still know that I am within my caloric range.
You don’t need to suffer through the fat loss process. It’s not easy to restrict calories… but it shouldn’t be torture.
Here’s my meal breakdown for the day…
Breakfast: approximately 450 calories
Full Strength post-workout shake: 300 calories
Second Meal: approximately 300 calories
Dinner: ??? calories
Evening Snack: approximately 390 calories
Total calories: ??? calories… definitely very close to my target of 2000 calories.
Here’s my activities for the day…
