In today’s video I bring you behind the scenes of a killer hypertrophy workout. You’ve got to check out the incredible detail my 51 year old training partner has been carving out of his physique!
You’ll also hear me share insights about minimalist training… as well as some of my physique training philosophies. This topic was inspired by an article written by Greg Nuckols… titled, Is Minimalism Hurting Powerlifting? …it’s a great read!
One thing I didn’t mention in the video is that my legs felt a bit sore while performing the two leg exercises today. My muscles are not used to being training three times per week… and by adding the 15 minutes of sprint work on the stationary bike yesterday, I feel that my legs didn’t experience the recovery they needed… especially considering I’m in a caloric deficit.
I may just stick to walking my dog for the next week while performing the three full body workouts… then try to include sprint work when I change my split the following week.
Stats:
5′ 7″
160 lbs
38 years old
Here’s the meal breakdown…
Breakfast: approximately 450 calories
Full Strength – post workout shake: 300 calories
Dinner: approximately 500 calories
Snacks (guys night out): approximately 1000 calories… I ended up having more pepperettes than I planned for… but still stayed in a deficit.
Total calories: Approximately 2000 calories
Here’s my activities for the day…
Killer hypertrophy workout from AMP – Aesthetic Muscle Plan
10 minute abs workout
10 minute calves workout
30 minute walk with my dog Chief
5 hours on my feet playing darts with my brother-in-laws, workout partner, and some buddies…. that’s got to burn some calories 🙂 …it’s some serious NEAT!!!
Tomorrow you’re going to get a behind the scenes look at a training session with my 93 year old client… plus you’ll see my favorite Saturday morning treat… so stay tuned!
