It’s time to step things up. You’ve spent far too long dreaming about getting a ripped ‘photo ready’ beach body… coming close… but not quite doing what it takes to achieve the results you deserve… and there’s a reason for it… actually there’s 3 BIG reasons.
Before I reveal these 3 BIG beach body killers that you absolutely MUST avoid… Let’s dig a little deeper into why you desperately want to sculpt a lean and sexy body…
I read this quote from my buddy Shawn Phillips just about every day. It’s a constant reminder that sculpting my body is so much more than vanity. It’s so much bigger than ‘me’.
It may seem selfish… but both Shawn and I believe that you need to be selfish in order to be selfless.
Being selfish by dedicating adequate focused time toward torching that last 10-20 pounds of stubborn fat, while sculpting the body you deserve… could very well be the greatest gift that you can give to all those who you dearly care about.
Because when you make your physique and your health the #1 priority in your life… your vibrant energy and joy will bring out the best in those around you.
Yes… time in the gym is time away from my family… BUT…
…The time I do spend with my family is TOP notch! They receive the absolute best version of me. Healthy… energized… strong… positive… happy-go-lucky.
…and that in turn… brings out the best in them.
The example I’ve set has helped my children develop a healthy fascination with the potential of their body… and an appreciate for their well-being.
When I was 40lbs overweight I lacked confidence and avoided the beach. If I didn’t make the choice to put my health and my physique first… as priority #1… I guarantee that I would have missed out on one of the most beautiful moments in my life… (shared with my daughter in the photo above).
So here’s the million dollar question… is your physique elevating the lives of those around you?
If not… I bet we can trace it back to one of these 3 BIG beach body killers that are holding you back…
The BIG 3 Beach Body Killers
1. Complacency
2. Excuses
3. Fear
Complacency – Feeling content with the status quo… Settling for the norm… and thinking “I’m not that bad… compared to most people.”
Average… it’s a word that doesn’t sit too well with me. It stirs up thoughts of coasting through life. It lacks zest… challenge… excitement.
“I could be great… I could achieve so much and make a wonderful impact on this world by making the most out of my life… but ehhhh… why bother… I’ll just do what everyone else is doing.”
Sounds appealing doesn’t it? NOT!
Did you know that 69% of the population is either overweight or obese? That’s the norm.
That’s what happens when we settle. When we use phrases like “Live a little.”
I still don’t understand why pounding back alcohol and cheeseburgers is used as a reference of “living a little.”
…but hey… if you want to “live a little” it’s your choice… but I choose to LIVE LARGE… living life to the absolute fullest.
Complacency hides in various forms…
a) Falling into contentment with your workouts. Going through the motions. Lack of focus and intensity during your training session. No enforcement of progression or periodization. Following the same workout plan for months on end.
b) Content with your nutrition. Eating the same yet expecting different results. Failing to challenge yourself by improving the quality of food you consume and controlling your portion sizes.
If I had dollar for every time someone told me they “eat good”, I would be a VERY wealthy man. Eating “good” is not good enough.
c) Content with your lifestyle. Putting everyone’s needs before your own. Running yourself into the ground. Failing to place your health and physique as your #1 priority. Failing to get adequate quality sleep. No plan for rest & recovery. Lack of “fun time”. Not “In-Tune” with what makes you happy.
Excuses – I’ve heard them all…
“I’m too busy, too tired, too old, bad genetics, I’ll start tomorrow, I don’t have a gym membership, that workout looks too complicated, I don’t want to get big and bulky, I don’t know how to cook, I have a bad back, my knees hurt, I’ve tried everything before and nothing has worked, blah, blah, blah…”
Anything you’re saying to justify your lack of commitment toward your health and physique is nothing but an excuse.
…and hey… I’m not pointing any fingers. I’ve made a million and one excuses myself. It’s human nature I suppose. It’s a way of passing responsibility onto someone or something else.
I encourage you to take personal responsibility for your actions and reactions.
You may be old, have crappy genetics, need to drive your kids to sports every day of the week, and have joints that ache… but… you can still make the absolute most out of what you have.
Simply become the best that YOU can be.
Fear – of failure mostly.
“What if I can’t follow through to the end… or get sick… or get busy with work…”
…and this fear is often what leads to excuses. Fear will stop you dead in your tracks before you even get out of the starting blocks.
A colleague of mine, Dax Moy once shared this point of view on F.E.A.R…. he says it stands for…
…Forever Expecting Awful Results
If you expect to fail… you will.
Fear is a sign to work on your self belief… to become aware of your limiting beliefs and challenge them in every way possible.
So now I call on you to do away with complacency, excuses, and fear… and unleash the greatness within you.
Make your health and your physique priority #1.
You want a ripped beach body??? Go after it with everything you’ve got!
No more half-assed effort, focus, and intensity…
…Show me what you’re really made of. Let us see what your true potential really looks like.
…It’s the most selfless thing you could do… and I guarantee everyone around you will benefit.
Let’s ROCK!
