Quality of sleep plays a key role in your overall physique transformation. It’s prime-time for recovery and rebuilding of the muscle tissue that was damaged through training. A great sleep has you jumping out of bed in the morning, ready to take on the day and give your very best effort toward your physique training.
Trouble is, most people don’t get enough sleep… and the sleep that they do experience is restless. I didn’t realize how big of a problem this was until I recently asked, “What do you feel is holding you back from achieving your physique goals?” on the Metabolic Masterpiece fanpage… and lack of sleep or quality of sleep was the most common response. So today, we would like to share two techniques that help Angie and I experience great quality sleep on a consistent basis…
The first technique is all about your evening rituals. The best thing that you can do to improve the quality and quantity of your sleep is to perform an evening ritual before you go to bed. Angie’s secret is that she spends some time stretching after the kids are in bed. It’s her “down time”. She puts on her jammies (loose clothing), takes out the foam roller, and does some relaxing stretches and self massage. She doesn’t rush through it. She casually moves through the stretches holding each one for 15-30 seconds. Check her out in action… and check out those fuzzy slippers ๐
This is a FANTASTIC evening ritual!!!
It’s also important to note that when you stretch out your muscles, you are encouraging blood to flow to that area in your body. The increased blood flow will bring nutrients to the muscle, resulting in a quicker recovery from your strenuous workouts.
