No Two Reps Are Created Equal
As I mention in the video… if you were to see me perform this squat in the gym you may think there’s nothing special about it. It probably looks just like how most people perform the Sumo Squat.
…but the difference between how I perform a Sumo Squat and how most other trainees perform it, is like night and day.
The difference is in the mass intention. In other words… what’s going on in my mind.
Thanks to B-Pak’s advice, I now have the ability to focus 100% of my attention on specific areas of my thighs and intensify the stretch and contraction.
I can get an insane pump in a specific area of my quads, hamstrings, or inner and outer thighs… and it all happens in my mind and with my intentions.
Most people make the mistake of loading up too much weight and try to lift it by any means necessary. They use more of their lower back muscles to lift the weight and reduce the focus on their thighs…
Hence… many of them end up straining their lower back or developing injuries in their glutes and thighs.
How To Get Better Results From The Sumo Squat
Begin with a wide stance and toes pointed out.
1) Allow your knees to fall out as you lower your body. Feel the tension on your hamstings and glutes as you stretch.
DON’T just drop down.
2) Squeeze your glutes and hamstrings before you lift.
3) Squeeze your heels together and focus on pushing the ground away from you instead of lifting yourself up.
I like to think of a force pushing my knees together. This helps intensify the contraction.
4) Squeeze your glutes and thrust your hips forward at the top.
Repeat.
You can even try it first without weight. You’ll immediately notice the difference when you create that inward intention by squeezing your heels together. I guarantee you’ll feel your inner thighs contract more than ever before.
