I have been eating a fair amount of Tilapia lately. Although I tend to eat a lot of the same foods, I enjoy preparing each meal in a variety of ways. Today, I decided to prepare the Tilapia recipe Tex-Mex style. If you enjoy spicy foods like me, you definitely need to try this…
Directions:
1. Crack 1 egg in a square dish and mix with a fork.
2. Dip Tilapia in the egg and place in a casserole dish
3. Sprinkle on seasoning…
a) Ground black pepper
b) taco seasoning
c) bread crumbs
d) crushed chillies
e) fresh parsley
Follow baking instructions on the back of the frozen Tilapia package. The thinner the fillet, the shorter cooking time that’s necessary.
This dish goes great with mixed veggies cooked in coconut oil and topped with salsa.

“I’ve heard that 80% of Tilapia is imported from China, raised in what would be classified as waste water. Why not recommend a healthier choice?”
“Tilapia, at least all that I’ve found, is farm-raised and one of the most toxic fishes out there. I am surprised you eat it.”

First of all, the Tilapia that I purchase does not come from China. Please avoid all Tilapia that comes from China. Please stick with North American Tilapia that comes from environmentally friendly farms.
There is nothing wrong with farmed fish when it comes from a quality farm.

If you are buying your Tilapia from China, yes it could be toxic. But there isn’t a concern when buying it from an environmentally friendly farm in North America. It’s certainly not on the Mercury list.
I consume Tilapia for the protein content, not the omega 3’s. Tilapia makes up a small part of my overall diet. I enjoy wild salmon, farm raised chicken and eggs, and farm raised beef… but I also include commercial beef, chicken, and fish in my diet.
My family gets regular blood work and the doctors are always beyond impressed with our results. Our insurance company test the heck out of our blood and we are at elite status.
So, I guess I don’t get as freaked out over some of the fear mongering out there in regards to these issues. Probably because I’m only consuming these things in moderation.
NOTE: You’ve got to find it ironic that these website which strike fear in your heart about all the foods to avoid, always seem to have a supplement to sell you to counteract the negative side effects of the toxins or “evil food”.
