The number one component of the Barbell Row that I want you to work on is retracting your scapula. This will require you to follow the rules of this challenge; 1) check your ego at the door 2) reduce the weight, 3) slow down the tempo.

Next, focus on driving your elbows toward the ceiling instead of simply pulling the bar with your biceps. Experiment with where you direct the force with your elbows. Do you feel a difference if you direct your force upward compared to directing the force up and back?
Play around with the degree to which your elbows are away from your body. Do you feel a difference if your elbows are in close to your sides as opposed to further away from your sides?
Experiment with the degree of hip flexion. Do you feel a difference if you are bent forward at 45, 60, or 90 degrees?
The Barbell Row is among the best exercises for overall back development. Enhance your mind-muscle connection by applying these techniques and you will be greatly rewarded.
