Floating Deadline vs Strict Deadline

By Scott Tousignant on November 8, 2017

Physique Mastery Podcast episode 31

Have you heard the saying “A goal without a deadline is just a dream.” There’s a lot of merit to this statement. A concrete deadline creates a sense of urgency, especially if there is an event tied into it such as a wedding, beach vacation, photo shoot, or physique contest.

This is inline with Parkinson’s Law which states, “Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion.”

But as we all know… Life happens. And these unexpected challenges often set us back, which places a greater stress on you if you want achieve your goal in the allotted time frame.

In episode 31 of the Physique Mastery Podcast we share our approach of using a floating deadline, which gives you the best of both worlds. A sense of urgency with a bit of leeway for when life presents you with challenges.

Problem Areas and Negative Self Talk

By Scott Tousignant on October 20, 2017

problem areas

Do you find yourself focusing on the last place you burn fat… aka problem areas?

Lately I’ve been seeing many of my very ripped and muscular physique freak clients, friends, and colleagues getting down on themselves for not looking the way they think they should look.

The interesting thing is that they look better than 95-99% of the population, yet they pick themselves apart. It seems they aren’t happy unless they are walking around with a photo ready physique 365 days out of the year.

Can you relate? I know that I can. View Full Post… Click Here!

42 Things You May Not Know About Me

By Scott Tousignant on September 29, 2017

To celebrate my 42nd birthday today, I thought you’d enjoy getting to know a little bit more about me other than the fact that I’m a lightweight bodybuilder who spends more time with his shirt off than on and who loves little more than the feeling of cold iron in his hands and warm blood pumping through his veins.

1) I cry during movies.

2) I’ve never been on a train.

3) I used to be repulsed by the idea of sushi and now it’s my favourite food. Still refuse to eat lobster, crab, and shrip though.

4) 90% of the time you’ll hear me listening to 90’s rap or 90’s grunge.

5) As much as I appreciated Arnold Schwarzenegger, it was Jean Claude Van Damme’s physique that inspired me the most as a teen. His posters were plastered in the workout room in my parents basement.

6) My favourite animal is a fox. The Disney movie The Fox and the Hound is what started it all.

7) I can’t stand Tim Horton’s coffee. But when they launch their Roll Up The Rim To Win campaign every year, I somehow find myself in there multiple times a week.

8) I had a double hernia operation when I was 18 months old.

9) One time when I missed my connecting flight I fell asleep at the airport and farted so loud it woke me up.

10) If I ever experience stress in my life I guarantee I’ll have a dream about either not being able to find my locker in high school or arriving at a final exam in University while realizing that I never attended a class, handed in an assignment or studied.

Making Fitness A Lifestyle – Client Success Journey

By Scott Tousignant on September 26, 2017

In episode 30 of the Physique Mastery Podcast we’re joined by Dr. Greg Green who’s a chiropractor by day and bass player by night in the rock band Mr. Plow.

Greg is a member of our Physique Mastery Movement group coaching experience who’s been working with us for the past 8 months.

Here’s the initial reason why Greg joined the PMM family…

Not only has Greg achieved his physique goal, but he’s continued to progress in countless ways.

What makes our day is seeing how Greg has embraced maintenance. He has an appreciation for knowing when to take a break from fat loss. Especially when life becomes a little more stressful.

Having a heightened sense of awareness and listening to your body is the key to long-term success in making fitness a lifestyle…

…in addition to creating habits and building structure as you’ll hear Greg discus during the podcast,

Client Q and A – Progressive Training and Nutrition For Long Term Success

By Scott Tousignant on September 18, 2017

Physique Mastery Podcast episode 29

In episode 29 of the Physique Mastery Podcast we’re joined by Becky Eschmann for an in depth client Q & A session about training progressions and nutrition strategies geared toward individual needs.

Becky is a member of our Physique Mastery Movement group coaching experience. And like most of our members, she enjoys learning about the thought processes and rationale behind our programming.

In this podcast Becky grills us on;

  • How we’re able to design workout programs in a group coaching setting when some members are in fat loss mode, while others are in muscle building mode.
  • How each months plan builds off the previous plan and sets you up for success in next months plan.
  • The problem with information overload.
  • Why it’s important to manipulate training volume.
  • Why and when to change rest intervals.
  • Nutrition strategies suited to the individual.
  • …and much more!

This is a fun conversation and chances are good that you’ve had similar questions as to the one’s Becky asked us. So we’re certain you’ll gain value from the discussion.

Applied Physique Mastery – Client Success Story

By Scott Tousignant on September 11, 2017

Physique Mastery Podcast episode 28

In episode 28 of the Physique Mastery Podcast we’re joined by Dennis Breitwieser-Cutshall to discus the incredible success he’s had during the past 12 months of participating in our Physique Mastery Movement group coaching experience.

During the past year Dennis has dropped 23 pounds and 18% body fat by applying the physique mastery code that we teach, which involves;

  • A slow and steady approach.
  • Floating deadlines.
  • Variable training frequency to suit your lifestyle.
  • Adopting nutrition practices that work best for YOU.
  • Embracing the process.
  • Progressing through exercise quality while enhancing your mind-muscle connection.
  • Structure. Creating a process that’s easily repeatable while focusing on the important things that produce results.

It’s one thing to hear Bryan and I preach these fundamental principles of Physique Mastery, but it’s something entirely different when you get to hear from people who have applied the principles and experienced the success that comes along with it.

This is a must listen to episode in my opinion. You’ll feel the passion and excitement from Dennis as he shares his story.
