Tom Venuto nominated me for the Deadlift Your Bodyweight Challenge For Charity. A great idea that Nick Nilsson started last week. Here are the rules…
1) Weigh yourself.
2) Load your bodyweight onto the bar.
3) Do as many consecutive reps as you can.
4) Donate at least $1 for every rep to your favorite local charity.
My Current Stats:
5′ 6.5″
156 lbs
38 years old
Results: 160lb Deadlift for 46 consecutive reps.
I thought I would be able to do a lot more than 46 reps, but my glutes were on freak’n fire!
15 minutes after setting the bar down, my glutes were still crazy pumped… I felt like they were going to rip the seams of my shorts 😉
Less than 24 hours later, my glutes and hamstrings are experiencing the glorious feeling of DOMS. It’s amazing how one high rep set of Deadlifts can hit your glutes and hamstrings so well.
I’ve never done high rep Deadlifts before. It’s typically a very low rep exercise. But this challenge sure has me wondering if I should occasionally add in a high rep set like this.
Here’s Tom Venuto’s recording of his Deadlift Your Bodyweight Challenge For Charity…
He lifted 205lb for 62 reps using the Conventional Deadlift… VERY impressive!
Here’s Nick Nilsson’s recording that kicked off the Deadlift Your Bodyweight Challenge For Charity…
Nick lifted his bodyweight for 60 reps using the Trap Bar. Freak’n awesome!
I hope to see this challenge gain momentum. If you decide to take part, be sure to share your video with us.
***Caution***: This challenge should only be attempted by experienced lifters and should be avoided by anyone with any history of low back pain. Be careful and take any maximum repetition challenge at your own risk.
