Lifting tempo is a training variable I love to manipulate. Whether it’s slowing down the eccentric portion of the movement to really ‘feel’ the tension in the target muscle, or performing explosive reps to increase strength and power, varying your lifting tempo is a key component to sculpting an aesthetic physique.
In Episode 04 of the Modern Musclehead podcast, my co-host Bryan Krahn and I discus how we manipulate lifting tempo in our physique training programs. We also share our evidence based approach to natural bodybuilding.

Bryan and I also share some updates on how our training has been going. Bryan is wrapping up a strength phase and I’m smack dab in the middle of a cutting phase.
