How did this happen? How did daddy’s little girl grow up so fast?
Obviously, physique goals are important to me. But what’s of greater importance in life are the things that bring deeper meaning to you and those around you.
As Noelle’s grade 8 graduation approaches I find myself pausing and reflecting on our time together. I realize there have been moments when I took time for granted. When I thought that missing a moment would pay off and create even better moments in the future.
There is no trading time. All we ever have is this moment right here and now. And as I see her changing before my eyes with each passing day, I am reminded of just how important it is to make the absolute most out of every second. Because that time spent together is priceless.
The beauty is that a physique lifestyle when done right will enhance these moments and your life.
Your vibrant energy and zest for life becomes contagious. When you’re feeling your best it allows you to give the best of yourself to others.
Angie and I haven’t had to tell our kids to be active or eat nutrient rich foods. We’ve simply led by example.
Shayne and Noelle see us making healthy food choices the majority of the time. They see us exercise portion control. But, they also see that we let loose and indulge from time to time.
They have seen how much joy our workouts bring us. They’ve even been a part of them ever since I began recording YouTube workout videos.
I’ll never forget Noelle busting out some burpees along side me when she was three years old. It was a bonding experience. And now I’m training in the gym alongside Shayne, who’s been kick’n some serious butt!
But the experience goes beyond the confines of the gym walls. The world is also our gym. We’ve been very active outdoors with our kids from the time they were born.
Most of our vacations involve exploring new hiking trails.
Being active with our kids outdoors provides an incredible teaching opportunity.
In an age of distraction, being out in nature helps ground us in the moment. Becoming aware of the miracles that surround us and are directly in front of our face.
Being out in nature provides a platform to discus the wonders of the world and the universe we live in.
The deepest conversations we’ve had with our kids have been while we were active outdoors. They aren’t afraid to let their guard down. Sharing their thoughts and feelings. Their curiosity is at an all time high in these moments.
Most important is that Shayne and Noelle have witnessed how I use my physique oriented lifestyle as a tool to serve others. They see the difference I’m making in the lives of others. They see the connection I have with my clients. They see how we’re all learning from each other and sharing the journey together.
Noelle has an ambition to either work in the police force (preferably the k-9 unit) or with the Canadian Security Intelligence Service. Hearing her goals and vision excites the heck out of me. She wants to make a difference in the world by helping others. That’s how I know I’m doing my job right as a parent.
So, the take home message of this personal post is that if you’re avoiding a birthday party because you’re afraid you’ll lose control and eat too much cake… or you’re spending hours on the cardio equipment when you could be out walking with your spouse or doing fun activities with your family… you are doing this physique lifestyle thing wrong.
Use this physique lifestyle as a vehicle to bring out the best in you and the people you come in contact with and you’ll be rewarded beyond measure.
