After enjoying the Summer, “Living a little”, with parties every weekend, family vacations, putting back some of my favorite beers, frequently indulging in my favorite treats, and gaining 3 pounds of fat… it’s time to refocus and go through a 4 week cutting phase.
In today’s video, I share exactly how I’m going to burn off this excess fat by the end of September…
Top 3 Strategies To Carve Out Ripped Abs
1) Track my food intake: I’ll be using MyFitnessPal to track my food intake. My daily goal is approximately 2000 calories, which is a 20% deficit for me… 500 calories below my maintenance level.
I’ll also be recording daily videos of my meals once again. I found this to be ultra effective for me in the Spring when I went through my last cutting phase. The accountability is tremendous.
2) Resistance Training 5 Days Per Week: I’ll be following the workouts from my Aesthetic Muscle Plan… currently on Phase 10… beginning Phase 11 next week.
3) Conditioning Work: I’ll be performing sprints on the recumbent spin bike two times per week. 15-20 seconds at a high resistance ALL OUT! followed by 30-40 seconds rest… for a total of 10-15 minutes. These sprint sessions will be at the end of my leg workouts… which makes for a great way to finish your legs off with an intense burn. I also find this to cause less of an interference effect with my recovery… and compliments my muscle gains.
I’ll also do Farmer Walks once per week… loading 230lbs on the Trap Bar… Deadlifting it up… walking 30 feet… placing it down… turn around and repeat for 10-15 minutes. Not only will this improve my conditioning, but it will also bring up my weak points… traps, forearms, and grip strength.
