Finally “In The Zone” with a strong mind and burning desire.
Momentum may start to build up slowly, but with every small victory
you become more UNSTOPPABLE!
I’ve put together my best week so far three weeks into this cutting phase and couldn’t be more stoked!
The weekend has been my biggest challenge, but this past weekend I was VICTORIOUS!
In spite of being out of town at the Toronto Pro Show and Strong Pro Summit, I managed to stick with my nutrition plan. Instead of seeing weight gain after the weekend, I dropped nearly half a pound.
I’m totally feeding off this momentum. There’s nothing more motivating than progress. Not just physical progress, but progress through the mental victories.
Here’s a quick physique update to see the visual changes that have taken place this week. Oh… and my workout partner Rick joined me for this physique update as well.
My Stats
Age: 40
Height: 5′ 6.5″
Weight: 151 pounds
I dropped 2 pounds this week, which has been my best progress so far and even a little better than I was aiming for. I may aim for another 2 pounds this week, then start tapering it down to 1.5 pounds per week and finishing with 0.5 pounds of weight loss per week.
Training
Training is still going strong! Actually hit some PB’s on a few exercises.
This was our third week on a 4 day body part split routine where we’re hitting each muscle once every 5 days.
Day 1: Chest
Day 2: Back
Day 3: Shoulders and Arms
Day 4: Legs
Repeat
Cardio
I didn’t get any cardio in this week other than the 30 minute brisk walks with my dog Chief most days of the week.
Nutrition
Nutrition has been spot on for the entire week. Most days I was hitting approximately 1700-1800 calories, which is aggressive, but not crazy aggressive for a guy my size and age.
I’ve gotten back to tracking my caloric intake using MyFitnessPal, which I find very useful. It keeps me focused and gets me away from guessing what I’m consuming.
Saturday night was the only time I was tempted with alcohol, but it was easy to resist since I was driving. Frankly, I didn’t really feel like drinking any way. I did however enjoy a very juicy steak and mocha cake from The Keg while out with some amazing colleagues in the fitness industry.
This was one of those weeks where things seemed to flow effortlessly. No real challenges or obstacles to report, which is a bit unusual but I’ll take it.
The upcoming week appears to be shaping up nicely as well. My plan is to keep rolling with the deficit until Friday. We are having a party at our house and I plan on enjoying some craft beers and snacks.
And That’s A Wrap!
This week was a prime example of how focusing on progress and not perfection really pays off. The small victories and progress that I made during the first two weeks set me up for an incredible third week. Small progress builds momentum and when you keep rolling with it, you become UNSTOPPABLE!
Thanks for sharing this journey with me. I sincerely appreciate you and your support.
