If you’re serious about transforming your physique, here are two rules you should follow regarding alcohol consumption;
1) When your goal is burning fat, you should either abstain from alcohol or limit your intake to once per month.
2) When your goal is building muscle, you should limit your intake to no more than once per week.
In both cases, keep the intake to a moderate consumption. Don’t drink to get hammered.
If you have an active social life and enjoy alcohol as I do (I LOVE craft beer), this may be a tough adjustment in the beginning. But I assure you the sacrifice is worth it when your goal is worthy of achieving.
Alcohol can have a negative impact on your energy, performance in the gym, recovery, appetite, and focus.
Basically, all of the things you are trying to improve through your transformation journey.
Sure it’s socially acceptable to drink. I get it. There can be a lot of pressure to drink when you’re out with friends. They’ll twist your arm and tell you, “Come on, live a little. Have some fun. Let loose. You only live once.”
But, do you really need alcohol to let loose, have fun, and feel like you’re living?
You have to realize that everyone’s values are different.
Focus on YOU. What do YOU value? What’s important to YOU? How do YOU want to live your life?
If they truly are great friends, they’ll support you in your goals.
And when you do choose to enjoy a drink or two… or three ๐ with your friends, you’ll appreciate it and savour it much more. And they’ll appreciate the occasion as well.
